Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Dear West Deptford Families and Staff,

As you have likely heard, earlier today, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced during his daily briefing that all New Jersey schools are to remain closed for the remainder of the school year. While many of us anticipated this decision, it still comes as a devastating blow to our entire educational community. On behalf of the Board of Education, the Administration, and staff, we are saddened to come to grips with the fact that our traditional school program will not return for some time.

What does this mean for the rest of the school year? Essentially, we will continue remote learning through June 16, 2020. District leadership has been working alongside stakeholders in the educational community to ensure that we can provide the best experience possible for students throughout the remaining six weeks of school. Many more details from Building Principals with additional information as it pertains to school events, cherished traditions, recognition ceremonies, promotion exercises, locker/desk cleanout, yearbook distribution, trip refunds, school-issued Chromebooks, and more, will be sent in the coming weeks. As has been the case since the onset of this pandemic, families can obtain information on the District’s COVID-19 web page, accessible from the District website.

On the heels of this announcement comes the realization that our students and staff have already overcome extensive adversity to make the most of this challenging situation, and we are confident as we close out this unforgettable school year that you will continue to do so. I am incredibly proud of what our students and staff have accomplished over the past seven weeks. Over one hundred years of traditional brick-and-mortar school learning was reinvented instantly through your hard-work, cooperation, and flexibility. This has been an unbelievably challenging time. Remote learning is not school as we have traditionally known it, but West Deptford remains strong and will continue to persevere.  As we look forward to the end of the year and beyond, I remain optimistic and hopeful for a return to normal, with students at their desks and teachers at the front of the class.

Until then, we appreciate your partnership and offer you and your family wishes of good health and wellness. If you have any further questions, please contact your Building Principal.
