Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Dear West Deptford Families,

This is an update on the COVID-19 school closure. As I’m sure you are aware, this pandemic does not show signs of slowing down in the next couple of weeks. In an effort to begin planning and keep our community informed, we are planning to keep our schools closed for the foreseeable future. We plan to re-evaluate our closure status the week of April 13. We are hoping that the situation will resolve quicker than anticipated. If we can resolve this before Spring Break, we will advise as soon as possible, but this does not seem likely.

In these uncertain times, I believe it is important to plan as much as possible, which is exactly what our Teachers and Administrators have been doing. I am very proud of how our community has responded and supported each other.

We will continue our current plan through March 27.  Shortly, we will be communicating a plan to distribute devices for students from grades 1-4, as well as learning packets for days 11-20 (PreK-4).  We are working to ensure this process is as streamlined as possible, and designing a parking lot pickup with little to no personal contact. The full plan will be submitted to the Township and the Police Department for discussion. In the meantime, we appreciate the support parents are giving to students at home. We understand that most of you are not teachers and this is a difficult endeavor.  Our Curriculum Department, led by Dr. Carvalho, is exploring ways that we can continue to support students in the best way possible during this closure.

Also, we have been coordinating efforts with the West Deptford Police and the County Office of Emergency Management. We are again asking everyone to please stay home unless truly necessary to go out. Also, if you must go out, please adhere to all precautions, as we are very dedicated to “Flattening the Curve.”

If you have any questions, please see our contact information page on our Distance Learning website at:

As always, the West Deptford community continues to go above and beyond to support the education of our students. We are very appreciative of the efforts of students, parents, teachers, staff, and our Township.  Please continue to adhere to recommendations made by health professionals and stay safe.
