Woman's Club Basket Raffle

BOE Member, Nancy Barna, who is also a member of the GFWC Women’s Club of West Deptford, along with other Club members, spent the pandemic collecting books for our elementary schools.
Last week a total of 688 books were delivered to three elementary schools in West Deptford. WD students Nate and Evie B. along with their grandmother, April Maska - who is a retired Oakview teacher, helped deliver the books to Oakview School Principal, Mrs. Sandy; Red Bank School Principal, Ms. Scheetz; and Green-Fields School Principal, Mr. Corbitt.
These books will be shared among the 53 elementary classrooms, pre-K to 4th grade, for the children to read.
Thank you to the GFWC Women’s Club of West Deptford for the generous book donations.

Gloucester County Parks and Recreation Virtual Nature Lessons

Snake

(Clarksboro, NJ)— Gloucester County Parks and Recreation is offering virtual lessons on various nature topics. The virtual lessons will feature slide shows with narrations by Dr. Daniel Duran, Gloucester County Naturalist.

“Gloucester County has amazing examples of nature that can be explored through our parks programs,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “Our programs are on hold, but we’re still reaching our nature enthusiast with these online lessons.”

Topics include “What do Insects do?” and “Amazing snakes!”.

“We’ve adapted during COVID-19 to reach our nature explorers in a new way,” said Freeholder Jim Lavender, liaison to Parks and Recreation. “These online lessons are the perfect way to incorporate nature exploration in the online classroom.”

Presentations last 30-60 minutes (flexible) with time for questions and answers. Park educators can present in Google Classroom or Zoom to offer live instruction.

Educators interested in scheduling a virtual session can reach out to Dan Duran, Gloucester County Naturalist, at dduran@co.gloucester.nj.us or Kim Miller at kmmiller@co.gloucester.nj.us
